A shoot for the rule-breaker, the trouble-maker, and tiny acts of rebellion they don't teach you with your ABCs. So build your kingdoms, child, and trust it will stand tall.
The minimalism in crbn's debut collection harks back to the clean, unadorned simplicity of schoolyard days for me, where earrings were clear studs, having hair down was a punishable offence, and no sneakers were allowed. Where identities were in flux and clothing was used simultaneously as a means of constraint and also as a mechanism grounding us to at least one identity, even as we rolled up our skirts and forgot our hair ribbons. crbn's clothes, with their rigid, black-and-white simplicity, leaves the wearer to decide what meaning they'd like to inscribe on it. If that inscription is unapologetically declarative doodad and fandango jewellery or snkrx's collection of drool-worthy treads, it will quietly step back and enhance its shine.

I seem to be incapable of doing things by halves when it comes to editorial shoots. To say this was a jump from my first shoot would be an understatement but, tired and sweaty after a day of forgetting to eat or drink, the adrenaline rush was still worth it. Four looks and various outdoor locations later, thank you to the whole team who put up with me for half a day through pretty challenging conditions. And Ashlin, burning a hole into the camera that loved her, and patiently and skillfully going along with every idea I threw at her, may there be many great things awaiting you.
